Kirtland House, exterior west side
Title
Kirtland House, exterior west side
Description
Built on Elm Street in the 1850s by Commodore Long, the house was purchased by the Academy in 1905. When it was renovated as a dormitory in 1939, its name was changed to Kirtland House in honor of John C. Kirtland, Professor of Classics, who taught from 1898 to 1939. In 1968, to make room for the Elm Street Dining Hall, the house was moved to 26 Elliot Street where it continues to serve as a boy's dorm
